Scott was born in
Richmond, BC. He started playing lacrosse before his third birthday and
played all of his minor lacrosse in Ladner before joining the Junior Salmonbellies.
In 1998, his final season in Junior “A”, Scott earned his
team’s “Most Inspirational Player” award and was named
to the league Second All-Star Team. Scott’s Junior “A”
stats included 35 goals and 44 assists for 79 points and 96 PiM in 38
games.
The Adanacs drafted him in 1999, attracted by his balanced offensive ability,
speed and ability to deliver crunching checks all game long. Scott contributed
strongly to the Adanacs’ Mann Cup championship in 2001 and has developed
into a defensive stalwart and a serious scoring threat on transition.
Scott missed most of the 2005 playoff run and part of this season due
to injuries and the team keenly felt his absence. His WLA stats through
this year’s regular season include 48 goals and 70 assists for 118
points and 222 PiM in 201 games.
Scott’s NLL debut in 2002 for the Vancouver Ravens was shortened
by two surgical procedures after an injury in WLA lacrosse. He earned
a starting role in the Ravens’ final season and played in 14 NLL
games, with total NLL stats to date of 7 goals plus 8 assists for 15 points
and 78 PiM plus 74 loose balls retrieved. His work commitments preclude
a move to play NLL lacrosse out of town but if the Vancouver franchise
is reinstated in 2009 look for Scott in the lineup.
Scott’s other sports include soccer and volleyball (he played
for the BC provincial team). He also enjoys movies, hiking, camping,
fishing and golf. He exults in dirt biking with his buddies at Harrison
and Chilliwack and especially playing poker. He likes winning big from
teammates at all-night poker events at his house.
Scott is a licensed gas fitter by trade.
His teammates still call him “Bling Bling” because of his
several pounds of gold necklaces and other jewelry with which, along with
his tattoos, he expresses the angst and joys of his inner child. Scott’s
cooking specialties are breakfasts and anything on the BBQ where he claims
to be a king.
The people most influential in his lacrosse career include Ladner coach
Bob Lacey and a trio of former WLA All-Stars including Andy Ogilvie, Scott’s
Junior “A” coach Todd Lorenz, and former Adanac coach Bob
Johnston.
