Todd was
born in Orillia, Ontario and that’s where he played all of his minor
lacrosse, starting at the precocious age of three.
He played half of a season of Junior lacrosse in Orillia in 1993 and full
seasons in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998. Todd amassed very respectable
scoring stats as a Junior player, including 67 goals and 127 assists for
194 points in 94 games. He also had 333 PiM, indicative of a certain,
well, strength of character. He was team Defenseman of the Year for three
seasons.
Todd played for the Brampton Excelsiors in 1999, scoring 2 goals and 4
assists plus 35 PiM in 15 games, and played the summer for North Shore
in 2003. He connected with Adanac GM Les Wingrove in 2004 and his mature,
veteran presence was and continues to be a welcome asset. In 2005 Todd
scored 7 goals on 16 shots for 44% efficiency but mysteriously still didn’t
crack the power play unit. Primarily a defensive player and face-off specialist,
Todd’s Senior “A” stats through 2006 included 18 goals
and 20 assists plus 105 PiM in 86 games.
His other sports interests include hockey (Tier II Junior “A”
as a defenseman), working out and snowboarding. Insightfully, he listed
“golf” one of his interests other than sports, as well as
fishing and camping, though his commitment to the Great Outdoors is somewhat
in question as he said, “If I can’t drive there, I don’t
belong there”. (You can take the boy out of Ontario but…)
Todd is a film fan and especially likes comedies, with Planes, Trains
and Automobiles at the top of his list. His favourite music is rock &
roll; like several other Adanacs he names The Tragically Hip as his favourite
group.
Todd trained in fire protection engineering at Seneca College and is employed
by McRae’s Environmental Service. He also runs his own sports promotion
company, Scrap Wear, and is the man to see for all of your silkscreen
and embroidery for sports apparel. The Adanacs are wearing his performance
wick dry shirts during warm-up.
Todd and his wife Leslie were married seven years ago. Leslie works in
sales for an IBM Partner and is a devoted mother to their daughter Tayler.
Todd’s cooking specialties include steak and chicken parmesan.
The people most influential in his lacrosse career include and Cam Devine,
his coach for six years in Orillia, and his parents, Barry and Karen
