Dallas
first played lacrosse at the age of 6 in Vancouver.
In Junior “A” he was League First All-Star and Top Goalie
in his last two years with Burnaby Cablevision.
Picked first overall by Richmond in the 1986 draft, Dallas played four
years in Richmond and four for the franchise when it relocated to Burnaby.
He came to the Adanacs in a trade in 1994. His list of honours, awards
and achievements is truly astonishing – WLA First or Second All-Star
eight times, winner of the Commission Trophy as League MVP in 1992, the
Ellison Trophy as Playoff MVP five times (an all-time record)
and the Leo Nicholson Trophy as Top Goaltender three times. In his WLA
career, he’s faced well over 14,000 shots and has an amazing 80%
save average. He was also very instrumental in the Adanacs’ Mann
Cup championship in 2001.
In professional (MILL and NLL) lacrosse he’s been "All-Pro"
nine times and was playoff MVP in 1998 and 2001 as he led his Philadelphia
Wings to their fifth and sixth professional championships. In 2001, he
stoned the defending champion Toronto Rock in the NLL final in leading
the Wings to the title. He leads the NLL in regular season career saves.
Dallas was named by the Philadelphia Sportswriters’ Association
as the longest-tenured athlete in Philadelphia history and was immortalized
in resin – his Bobble Head figure can be obtained by mail order
from Sachs Fifth Avenue or Frederick’s of Hollywood.
After 15 years with the Wings he requested a trade to Portland to be closer
to family. The move was beneficial as the Lumberjax won the Western Division
in their inaugural season. Recently Dallas took on the role as Community
Relations director in the Lumberjax front office.
His new soul mate, Daria, is somewhat of a celebrity in the Portland media.
You can listen to her radio talk show on-line a at www.1051thebuzz.com.
In Portland, Dallas likes the fans, the rain, the easy access to the coast
and the media coverage.
Dallas also enjoys hockey, cartooning, animation, movies and videos and
does superb caricatures. He is a master chef on the George Foreman grill
with fillet and asparagus his specialties. He is a great fan of films,
especially “The Big Lebowski”, “Batman Begins”
(the superhero film for adults) and “American Psycho”.
The player most influential in his lacrosse career was former Burrards
standout Dave Evans, whom he is sure to follow into the Hall of Fame..
