Coquitlam Bests New West for Minto Cup Berth

They didn’t touch the trophy, nor did they adorn their provincial championship medals.

The Coquitlam Adanacs remained all-business after nudging past the New Westminster Salmonbellies 7-5 Saturday to claim the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League playoff crown.

With their 4-1 series win, the Adanacs have bigger fish to fry at next week’s Minto Cup national championship in Okotoks, Alta.

Goals no gift for Jr. A's and 'Bellies

They came in bunches for the Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs during the regular season. Now, they are bordering on bankrupt in the B.C. Jr. ‘A’ lacrosse league playoff final.

Second-period spree spurs Jr. Adanacs

New Westminster Jr. Salmonbellies are putting up the fight of their lives and it’s still not enough to take the punch out of the Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs.

The defending Minto Cup-champion Jr. A’s scored five goals on just nine shots in the second period to fend off the Jr. ’Bellies 10-7 Monday at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven B.C. Jr. ‘A’ lacrosse league playoff final series.

Adanacs grab momentum in junior A final

Outshot but not outhustled, the Coquitlam Adanacs got a third period hat trick from Ben McIntosh en route to a 10-7 victory over the New Westminster Salmonbellies to take a 2-1 series lead in their B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League final.

Coupled with a five-goal outburst early in the second, where the squad turned a 1-1 tie into a 6-1 advantage in the span of 2: 22, the Adanacs demonstrated efficiency at both ends of the floor.

Coquitlam pulls even in B.C. junior final

Loss a test for Jr. A's

The Coquitalm Jr. Adanacs experienced a first during Wednesday night’s second-round playoff opener: a defeat.

For the first time this season the B.C. Junior ‘A’ Lacrosse League squad lost a match, dropping a 7-6 decision to the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

Jr. Adanacs edged by Bellies in Game 1

That adage of “It’s a whole new season” regarding the playoffs was proven true once again.

The undefeated Coquitlam junior Adanacs were caught flatfooted by the upstart New Westminster Salmonbellies, who stormed out to a 3-0 lead and held on to take Game 1 of the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League championship final 7-6 Wednesday at the Poirier Sports Centre.

Adanacs draw Bellies in junior final rematch








Coquitlam NowAugust 3, 2011

On paper, the Coquitlam Adanacs would appear a lock for a thirdstraight Minto Cup berth.

The defending national champions closed out the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League semifinal with a 21-3 ransacking of the Victoria Shamrocks on Saturday.

They swept their best-of-five series, and advance to a best-of-seven final against standing nemesis New Westminster.

It starts tonight, 8 p.m. at the Poirier Sports Centre.

Jr. A’s sweep playoff series opener

The Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs put an exclamation point on their first-round playoff series with a 21-3 victory over the Victoria Shamrocks on Saturday night on the way to the B.C. Jr. ‘A’ Lacrosse League finals.

The win capped a three-game sweep of the opening best-of-five round that saw the A’s continue their impressive regular season, extending their winning streak to 24-0 this year.
