Trent came to the Adanacs three years ago from the Maple Ridge Burrards in a multi-player trade.
Born in Richmond, Trent first played lacrosse at age 10 for the Delta Islanders where he also played Junior “A”, scoring 61 goals and 69 assists for 130 points and 186 PIM in 53 games and leading his team in scoring with 69 points in 2003 when he was 7th in league scoring.
Trent was drafted 8th overall by Maple Ridge in 2004 and his stick skills, mobility and excellent picks make him a key in the Adanacs offense this year. Trent’s WLA stats through 2008 included 81 goals and 135 assists for 216 points and 195 PiM in 127 games. His teammates appreciate his goals and assists, but also his excellent picks and screens.
Trent’s NLL stats in Calgary and Edmonton include 5 goals, 1 assist and 66 PiM in 12 games; he signed with Arizona only to see the franchise end.
His other sports interests include golf and bocce. Trent also enjoys “working out, lying on white, sandy beaches, walking across the street to English Bay beach when there’s time and long walks on the Seawall with a female companion”. He says, “I’m single but I’m interviewing qualified applicants after home games in the lounge and at numerous downtown establishments”.
Along with his father and another partner, Trent is part owner and Manager/Estimator for Columbus Construction. A true cosmopolitan, Trent says, “I have mastered Indian cuisine with the help of Gary Bining and have started learning Chinese cooking with the help of Mike Leong.” His favourite movies include Shawshank Redemption, The Hangover and The Notebook. His favourite books include For One More Day and Tuesdays with Morrie. He enjoys listening to “anything on the radio”.
Trent says the people most influential in his lacrosse career were his parents, Kirk and Ronna; his sister Krista who encouraged him to pursue his goals and Adanac teammate Curt Malawsky and former Maple Ridge teammate, now assistant Adanac coach, Kyle Goundrey. He says, “They all ooze lacrosse knowledge. I keep my mouth shut, listen and take it all in.” He enjoys the twisted humour of “the resident chirp shows” Andy Secore, Ray Guze, Malawsky, Jason Wulder and Brad MacDonald, who are “always good for a laugh in the heat of battle.”
