The Adanacs were pleased to be able to select Ross in the WLA draft in 2008 after his solid Junior “A” career as a defenseman for the Surrey Stickmen.

Born in Vancouver, Ross first played novice lacrosse in Langley. In three years in Surrey he scored 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points plus 74 PIM in 52 games and helped his team win the BCJLL championship in 2005. His WLA stats after his rookie season include 2 goals and 4 assists for 6 points and only 6 PIM in 23 games. That makes him a prolific goal scorer compared to team Captain Bruce Murray.

Ross also played defense in hockey and enjoys golf, road bikes and squash as well as hiking and backpacking. He completed two years of studies in Biology at UBC and is now continuing his college career at UFW. He is seriously considering a change to Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University this fall. This summer he is living with his folks in Fort Langley and working as a warehouseman.

When he first arrived in the dressing room he was a dead ringer, vocally, for the early Andrew Biers (getting a three-word response was a major triumph), but he’s found his voice, like Biersy did, although we haven’t seen a Halliday version of “Norm” yet.

Ross enjoys listening to Fleetwood Mac, The Tragically Hip, Tom Petty and hip hop by A Tribe Called Quest. His favourite films are “Zoolander”, “Youngblood” and “The Life Aquatic”. He is an avid reader and says that when his serve is on he’s a pretty good tennis player. He says, “I’m a big fan of the cheeseburger” and since expanding his culinary horizons with meals at local ethnic eateries and on trips with teammates to Tofino and Costa Rica he really enjoys seafood as well as Caribbean, French and Mexican cuisine and he became an expert at cooking salmon after the trip to Tofino in November. He’ll be venturing to Costa Rica again this December, both for the sights, wildlife, beaches and food and again lend his time and skills on our second mission to help the newly-formed Costa Rican national lacrosse team.

Ross says that the person most influential in his lacrosse career to date was Mr. Alvin Clarke, his Langley Minor Lacrosse coach.
