Luke came to the Adanacs with the strong recommendation of Dallas Eliuk of the Portland Lumberjax. Luke was born in Woodstock, Ontario and first played lacrosse at age 12. He played minor lacrosse for the London Blue Devils and Junior “A” for the Brampton Excelsiors. Team and individual achievements include winning an NLL championship in his rookie year with the Toronto Rock then winning his second with the Rochester Knighthawks.
A defensive and transition specialist, his Junior “A” stats include 27 goals and 50 assists for 77 points and 138 PIM in 97 games. He played Major Series Lacrosse for the Brampton Excelsiors. A hard-checking and hard-nosed defenseman, his Senior “A” stats before this season included 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points and only 52 PIM (he takes pride in playing honest defense) in 92 games.
He has played in the NLL for Toronto, Rochester and last year in Portland with Adanac teammates Cory Conway, Tim Campeau and Brad MacDonald. He was picked up by Calgary in the NLL dispersal draft after Portland folded. His NLL stats to date include 6 goals and 31 assists for 37 points and 89 PIM plus 336 loose balls retrieved in 64 games.
Luke’s other sports interests include hockey and rugby. He also enjoys films, especially “Fight Club” and anything war related, reading anything by Chuck Pahlaniuk and going snowboarding. His musical tastes include Hard Rock and Punk; his go-to band on his iPod is System of a Down. Luke completed high school and then went on to Humber College in Toronto, Ontario. He aspires to become a firefighter. This summer he is learning the refrigeration insulation trade at JWI Installations. Luke’s girlfriend Jacqueline is a nurse and lives in London, Ontario. Luke’s best cooking includes BBQ and a spicy curry. When dining out he prefers steak.
The people most influential in his lacrosse career so far have been his parents, Gary and Grace.
