Leif Paulson Leif Paulson

Leif hails from Prince George and comes to the Adanacs as a rookie this season via the WLA draft.  Already he looks like yet another “steal” by GM Les Wingrove, as he is playing with the confidence and effectiveness of a WLA veteran.

Leif first played lacrosse at age 8 and played all of his minor lacrosse on the banks of the Nechako River before suiting up for four years of Junior “A” lacrosse with the New Westminster Salmonbellies.  He was New West’s Most Inspirational Player in his second year and played in the Minto Cup in 2007.

Leif’s other sports interests include football, baseball, basketball (he was a three-time second team all-star) and hockey.  He just finished his third year of studies in Civil Engineering at prestigious Cornell University.  He plans to earn an MBA after completing his undergraduate degree.  An obvious highlight of his collegiate lacrosse career was the NCAA championship final game vs. Syracuse, in which the Cornell Big Red was a whisker away from the upset win until the Orangemen tied the game late and won in overtime.  After completing his career at Cornell, Leif hopes to play lacrosse in the NLL.

Leif’s favourite novel is King of the Gypsies (by Bartley Norman, not the novel on which the mediocre film is based).  His favourite film is FUBAR.  He likes rap and techno, especially Jonas Altberg (Basshunter) but he’s just been introduced to Victoria’s “The Racoons” and to the incomparable indie band “The National” and his ten year history of playing the piano belies a broad taste in music and he’s going to review Keith Jarrett’s improvisations next.  Leif likes cooking breakfasts and likes a good steak when dining out.

The people most important in his lacrosse career so far include his coach and manager in Prince George, Mr. Dave Jenkins, his coaches at Cornell and his parents, Kathy and Gary.
