Brad Richardson Brad Richardson

The Adanacs were delighted to be able to select Burnaby Laker’s team Captain in the 2008 WLA draft and “Corky” did not disappoint. In his rookie season he displayed the skill and confidence of a veteran and earned his regular role in an excellent defensive corps.

Born in Burnaby, Brad first played lacrosse at age 5 in Port Coquitlam followed by Coquitlam and Langley. He played five years of Junior “A” for Burnaby and was also a “call up” player in 2002 so he played in six Minto Cups and won three championship rings. An intelligent and hard-checking defenseman with good stick skills, he scored 31 goals and 59 assists for 90 points plus 218 PIM (he has a certain edge) in 126 Junior “A” games. In his rookie season with the Adanacs he scored 3 goals and 3 assists plus 19 PIM in 23 games.

Brad just finished his career at the University of Denver on a field lacrosse scholarship and scored almost a point per game at UD. He graduated with a degree in Business Management with a minor in Business Ethics and Legal Studies and plans to attend law school. His other sports are hockey (team captain), soccer, rugby, basketball and volleyball. Brad enjoys reading “business novels” (huh?), personal skills building books and actual novels. His musical tastes are universal but he especially likes rock including Peter Townsend. His favourite film is Happy Gilmore. This is fortuitous, as one of his rookie teammates this year is Mike “Happy” Gilmore. Brad likes eating steak and crab and cooking steak on the bar-b-que served with asparagus. He has enjoyed traveling since an adventure in Ecuador in which he was on his own for four days with little Spanish speaking skills. He traveled the Oregon Coast last fall and spent two weeks with teammates Brad MacDonald, Andrew Biers and Peter Veltman in Costa Rica last winter where he enjoyed surfing, ocean fishing, hikes, zip lines high above the jungle and diverse flora and fauna as well as helping the new Costa Rican national lacrosse team with a day-long session of drills and scrimmages.

Brad names Paul Dal Monte and Taylor Wray as the most influential people in his lacrosse career.
