Brad
was born in Owen Sound, Ontario and first played lacrosse at age five.
He played his entire minor and Junior “A” lacrosse career
in Orangeville. He was team Rookie of the Year, played in the league All
Star game once and played in two Minto Cups, 2000 and 2003. He was also
team captain in his final year. Brad is a relentless defenseman and transition
specialist with very good stick skills. He scored 51 goals and 83 assists
for 134 points plus 373 PiM in 136 games with the Northmen.
Drafted by Calgary in 2004 with two Junior seasons to play, he, along
with several other Adanacs, helped lead the Roughnecks to their NLL championship.
He was inexplicably traded to Toronto and then, at his request, to Phoenix
where he and Adanacs, Peter Veltman, Curt Malawsky, Brandon Atherton and
Andy Secore helped the Sting to the championship final. He played for
the Portland Lumberjax with fellow Adanac, Ray Guze last season and lived
up to his billing by Inside Lacrosse as “Portland’s speedy
young defender”, featuring prominently in a dramatic playoff run
including a one-goal loss in the NLL final this year (where was Dallas?).
Brad’s NLL stats to date include 12 goals and 19 assists plus 116
loose balls and 99 PiM in 67 games.
In his WLA debut with Coquitlam in 2005 he scored 9 goals and 7 assists
with 35 PiM in 28 games and was voted “Rookie of the Year”
by his teammates. His WLA stats through last season included 19 goals
(scoring on a 40% of his shots) and 16 assists for 35 points and
83 PiM in 74 games.
Brad played lacrosse and hockey in prep school in Salisbury, Connecticut.
He enjoys racquetball and says he is a “bocce stud”. He works
in construction.
He has traveled with Adanac teammates to the Oregon Coast (getting swamped
by a huge wave at the Coquille River Lighthouse) and ocean fishing at
Tofino and is “pumped” to be part of the crew of Adanacs traveling
to Costa Rica.
Brad has an artistic side and has recently started sketching. If you think
that’s unmanly, tell him and he’ll deliver you to the next
postal code. His favourite novel is Lonesome Dove and Canadian author
Robert Sedlack’s African Journals and The Horn of the Lamb. His
favourite music is by “Trooper”. His favourite films include
Stand by Me and The Water Horse. Brad likes cooking on the George Forman
Grill for the special person in his life, Veronica Bilina, who works in
automotive sales.
The people most influential in his lacrosse career were his parents, Sandi
and Greg.
